Student Gallery
My 8th grade students learn the powers of Photoshop when they partake in this
invaluable lesson about image manipulations. They learn various tools in
Photoshop that allow them to take two or more animals and and transform them
into unique creatures. Once they have created their creature, they write a
hypothetical story about their strange and unusual animal.
The Grid Project
I have had several of my 8th grade students create a 4 by 4 grid of images that
have different filter effects applied to them using the Filter tools in
Photoshop. This activity acquaints the user with the values associated with the
Layers window. It also familiarizes them with the various filter tools
available in Photoshop. The final products are usually very creative and
attractive. This assignment is also given to students who have successfully
completed all their projects and want something different to do.
Image Borders
This lesson shows students how to put three interesting and attractive borders
around their images to add spice to their websites. They become more familiar
with transparent backgrounds and gif extensions when completing this
assignment. With a few simple steps, they can transform a straight edged image
with a funky border.
Photoshop Elements
Adobe Photoshop is a wonderful tool, but its price can be cost prohibitive.
Adobe does offer a wonderful tool that is more affordable. It is Photoshop
Elements. It has many of the tools available in Photoshop. This lessons shows
the user how they can apply interesting filters to images using Photoshop
Elements.
