Microsoft Powerpoint is used quite
extensively in the schools to expose students to interesting
and fun ways to use technology in their classrooms. In addition
to creating attractive and interesting linear presentations,
you can teach students to set up presentations in a non-linear
fashion.
Making
Games in Microsoft PowerPoint:This is a user friendly
step by step handout that shows users how to create an interactive
game in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007. Once students and teachers
learn how to make a game using this handout, they can apply
it to a variety of other game activities. Pick up the game
plan for this handout.
Non
Linear Powerpoint Lesson This lesson gives students
an opportunity to create fun and interactive presentations
in Microsoft PowerPoint. This particular lessons shows how
you can set up an activity for children to click on a letter
and it will take them to a slide that has an animal that begins
with that letter. You can click on a sound icon and hear what
sound the animal makes. A creative teacher or student can
apply this lesson to so many different topics and activities.
PowerPoint
Quotes: This lesson gives step by step instructions
how to create a powerful quotes unit using Microsoft PowerPoint.
You can get all the extra handouts for free. You can get the
Quote's plan, rubric, sound and transitions handout that compliments
the quote's handout. This is a very successful unit that has
motivated some of my students that don't care too much for
school.
Rubric:
This is a rubric available in Microsoft Word that you can
customize for your particular project. This particular rubric
is for a quotes unit that my 8th graders put together. It
is by far one of their favorite units. They enjoy reading
a variety of quotes and finding images to compliment the words.
They then use sound to finalize their presentations.
Inserting
Sound into Presentations: This lesson walks the student
through a lesson on the incorporation of sound into presentations.
It has step by step procedures that will show students how
to set up the timings so that the music carries through until
the end of the presentation. The lessons shows the students
how to hide the icon in order to make the presentation more
professional as the sound automatically plays when the presentation
is loaded.
