Web Design gives
students a general understanding about design and development.
Though there are many free sites that allow people to create
sites with simple drag and drop techniques, starting from
scratch can give students a greater appreciation and understanding
about how sites are put together.
NVU:
NVU is a free web authoring program that allows you to put
websites together. This lesson will give students a decent
foundation about web development. I teach my students how
to make websites in FrontPage. That costs money and it has
been discontinued. Dreamweaver, one of the best web authoring
tools also costs money. NVU gives you the opportunity to learn
about web development and design for free. Get the free
download steps for NVU.
Paint.Net:
Paint.Net is a free image editing program run on Windows.
It allows you to do a variety of manipulations that are beneficial
for web design. It is imperative that you resize images in
an image editing program so that the web pages load more quickly.
It is also good design that you can make all images the same
size, especially when creating a gallery of images page. Pick

GIMP:
GIMP is a free image editing program that can be used on a
Windows, Unix or Mac platform. If you can't afford Photoshop,
