Microsoft Word is more than just
a word processing program. I have used Word to transform
clipart into new and improved images. This technique allows
students to transform their clipart to be consistent with
a color scheme they choose to use throughout presentations.
Students create educational posters about strange and exotic
animals, current events and more. During this lesson, they
learn how to use various tools in Microsoft to make more
interesting posters. They have also used this program to
check the reading level of a story and improve their grade
level by embellishing their stories with more complicated
words using the built in thesaurus.
Poster
Lesson: This lesson provides students with unique
tips to incorporate into their poster production. It shows
how to use some of the tools that are necessary to make the
poster interesting and appealing. Students will learn about
placing borders around images, using auto shapes and more.
The handout and videos for this lesson are available on the

Poster
Sample You can use this sample poster as a demonstration
of how a poster could end up looking once the assignment is
complete. When students are able to see what their expectations
are, they have a more clear understanding of what needs to
be done to accomplish the task at hand.
Poster
Rubric The poster rubric will give the students the
necessary information to meet all the requirements to make
an attractive and informative poster. It is a guideline that
can be used in many visual projects that are designed to inform
their audiences.
Brochures
using Microsoft Word 2007: This user friendly 7 page
handout will walk you through necessary steps to make a brochure
using Microsoft Word 2007. The lesson has an example of a
very attractive final product, which is very useful to share
with students so that they know what your expectations are
for the project.
