Landmark
Project: The Missing Link Project
was a grant provided by the district to assist collaboration
among staff members to integrate technology with content. The
websites that were created were designed based on the teachings
of David Warlick. "David Warlick has been an innovator
and leader in the field of educational technology and a prolific
programmer, writing some of the most popular interactive web
tools available for teachers on the Internet -- most of them
free."
Four
teachers from Mountain Ridge Middle School collaborated to put
together the following interactive websites for students and
teachers.
Internet
Evaluations: This activity focuses on several criteria that
will determine the credibility of a website. Students are given
two sites to evaluate. Depending on the outcome of the evaluation,
they will explain why they would or would not use the site as
a resource.
Tangerine:
This activity has been designed to reflect the story called
Tangerine by Edward Bloor. The focus of the activities are based
around natural disasters that are in the book. Students are
expected to compare four of the main characters in the story
with four of the natural disasters that are listed.
