Flying
cats found in abandoned building By Katherine
For
all those who are fans of the stories Cat Wings, they
will be pleased to hear that a real life cat has been
found with wings. When a group of construction workers
were starting to tear a building apart, a couple of cats
flew out and landed on a near-by bear statue. They spread
their wings and soon began to groom each other, as most
cats do. One worker snapped this picture and sent it to
us. As the workers watched, the female went inside the
house and took her kittens out, one by one, and set them
near the male. The kittens were like most kittens, but
had a little pair of wings coming out their backs. It
looked like the kittens couldn't fly yet, but they were
old enough to walk. One kitten tried to flap its wings,
but stopped with no results. As one of the workers tried
to approach one of the kittens, he was soon attacked by
the female. She leapt from the top of one of the trees
and swooped down, clawing at the man's hand. She bit him
on the hand, and stepped in front of the kittens, hissing
at anyone who advanced on her babies. As she guarded her
kittens, the male soon evacuated them, one by one. After
about six trips, the two cats left, heading west. Several
people watched these cats as they left while others began
to investigate the building for any kittens that were
left behind. Several bones of mice and other rodents were
found, but no left behind kittens. A nearby farmer saw
the cats fly into his barn; so he decided to investigate.
He found the cats, making nest in one of the haystacks.
The farmer called the Humane Society, but when they came
over to get the cats, they were gone. All that was left
was a couple of black feathers, and the head of a mouse.
The cats seem to be around secluded areas in the mountains.
The last sighting of the cats was in Mosquito Pass, a
mountain pass in Colorado. A group of campers were bouncing
around in their Dodge Ram when they spotted the cats flying
overhead. Several campers got out of the car and tried
to approach one of the older cats. The cat stiffened as
one camper petted the cat, but soon relaxed. The cat soon
started to purr, but the other cat soon intervened. If
any sightings there are any sightings of these cats, please
contact the Humane Society.
