You have been selected to intentionally break copyright laws in order to thoroughly understand what they are. Do you really think it is alright to take people's images, designs, music, or words without asking permission or giving credit to the authors because you are publishing material online for educational purposes? As students publish websites in classes or on their own time, it is imperative that they understand the copyright laws. The laws dealing with web publishing are not applicable to everyday classroom activities, which are usually more flexibility because of Fair Use. Students assume that because their activities are for educational purposes, they are free to do whatever they want with copy written materials. Students will be expected to learn copyright laws pertaining to web publication and then break a series of laws for educational purposes. Each student will have the following disclaimer on the webpage they create to recognize this behavior in not acceptable: This website is for educational purposes. I am purposely breaking copyright laws in order to thoroughly understand them. I intend to obey the copyright laws because it is the ethical and right thing to do. |
